
OPMEGA processes in Brussels the entry into the European Aquaculture Advisory Council
As the only transnational Aquaculture SPO in Spain, the president, Ricardo Herbón, the vice-president, Juan Fungueiriño and the director of operations, Lino Suárez, were in Brussels this week to claim their right to form part of the European Union Aquaculture Advisory Council, To this end, they held a meeting with Cécile Fouquet, technical secretary of the Advisory Council. Being part of this body will allow Opmega to know first-hand the directives or regulations related to its activity during its processing, which will allow it to have very valuable information for the organization and its associates. These days were very intense, the managers also had several meetings with community leaders such as the head of the Aquaculture Unit of DG Mare, Felix Leinemann and the head of the Nature Working Group of the Committee of the Regions, Serafino Nardi. In addition, they held two meetings with Galician MEPs Francisco Millán Mon (PP), Ana Miranda (BNG), and the MEP, Izaskun Bilbao(PNV), member of the Fisheries Commission. The president extended an invitation to publicize the work and sustainable cultivation of the mussel, he has also narrated the problems that we are experiencing due to the new regulations for the collection of the cheek.
