Artime’s support for OPMEGA to ensure fair conditions for mussels
Vilagarcía de Arousa, October 30, 2025. The Mussel Producers’ Organization of Galicia (OPMEGA) held a meeting in Vigo with the Secretary-General for Fisheries, Isabel Artime, to discuss the main challenges and opportunities facing the Galician mussel sector.
During the meeting, the Secretary-General reaffirmed her support for the defense of European products, transparency in labeling, and fair competition in imports from third countries, emphasizing the importance of ensuring equivalent production conditions for all producers.
This is a demand that OPMEGA has already conveyed to Brussels, in defense of equal conditions for Community of Galicia mussels compared to non-EU productions.
After the meeting, OPMEGA’s representatives expressed their strong appreciation for the Ministry’s commitment and open dialogue key elements for continuing to move forward toward a sustainable, competitive, and fair sector.
