Opmega returns to Seafood Barcelona to consolidate trade relations and showcase the value of mussels
– The organisation will be attending with an intense agenda of contacts and meetings already closed with buyers and distributors from different countries, with the aim of strengthening commercial relations and continuing to open up markets for the mussels of its associates.
Vilagarcía de Arousa, 26th April 2025 – The Galician Mussel Producers Organisation (Opmega) will once again be present at the Seafood Expo Global fair in Barcelona, which will be held from 6th to 8th May. This is one of the main international showcases for the seafood sector, and the organisation will be attending with an intense agenda of contacts and meetings already closed with buyers and distributors from different countries, with the aim of strengthening commercial relations and continuing to open up markets for Galician mussels.
On behalf of the organisation, part of the Opmega board of directors, headed by president Ricardo Herbón, will travel to Barcelona to hold various institutional meetings. Among others, the stand of the bateeiros will be visited by authorities from the Consellería do Mar and the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food.
As part of its presence at the fair, Opmega will screen an informative video, subtitled in English, which explains step by step the mussel cultivation process: from the collection of the seed to the moment when the seed is hung in the rafts so that time, care and nutrients from the sea can work their magic. A visual tour that highlights the work of the producers and the uniqueness of a traditional method adapted to the highest quality standards.
In addition, the organisation will present its new trays of ready-to-eat mussels on its stand, a format that is already a success in the national market and which is arousing growing interest in the international market, due to its convenience, quality and respect for the original product.
Opmega is the leading organisation of mussel producers in Spain, and its participation in Seafood Barcelona reaffirms its role as a reference in the sector. For Opmega, the Galician mussel is a luxury product: for its quality, for its origin and for the employment and wealth it generates in the estuaries, and it considers it necessary to promote the virtues of this product beyond our borders.
